Things to Consider When Choosing an Outdoor Canopy for your Business
There are many things to consider when buying commercial canopies, some of these may be obvious, while others are less so. Below, we outline the various things that you should be thinking about when buying a canopy for your business.
Why are you buying the canopy?
The reason that you want the canopy will inform your decision. For example, some businesses may which to provide their employees, customers and visitors a place where they can comfortably smoke. You may wish this area to be transitory – people arrive, they smoke, and then they go—or, you may want it to be more social, and so you provide seating. Perhaps you need to install overhead lighting, or make the area secure. These are all things that you need to think about when choosing a canopy for your business.

How big do you want the canopy to be?
Clearly, several factors will determine the size of your canopy, these include:
1. Your budget
2. The size of the building to which it is attached – an extravagant canopy may seem at odds with the building
3. Planning permission – with structures over a certain size, you may have to obtain planning permission
Many canopy manufacturers have 3D imaging software that can simulate and show you how the canopy will look once in constructed.
What type of ground will the canopy be placed on?
There will be different requirements depending on the surface upon which the canopy is placed. For instance, it may be more expensive to have the canopy placed on concrete, because it will require a little more labour to install than the same model installed on grass. It is not necessarily more expensive, some will offer equal prices, but they still need to be made aware concerning the type of ground floor.
These are just a few of the things that you should consider if you are planning to purchase commercial canopies.
